PappaRich is a chain store from Malaysia which aims to serve authentic Malaysian delights for everyone. PappaRich just opened it's doors a couple of months ago (May 2015) and it is their first store in Taiwan. It is located near the intersection of Civil Boulevard and Dunhua South Road.
The restaurant itself feels more like a cafe/fancy food court, with tables placed close to each other and the amount of noise of people talking. Their menu is quite extensive with more than 160 dishes.
The Pappa Curry Laksa (NT$ 260) is a curry noodle soup dish with chicken, bean sprouts, some vegetables, herbs and fried bean curd skin. Laksa is a popular dish in the Peranakan cuisine. Even though PappaRich's version is quite tasty and not as spicy as the traditional laksa, good laksa is hard to find in Taipei, and too be honest, I had better elsewhere.
Nasi Lemak (NT$ 290) is a simple dish of coconut rice and curry chicken, with peanuts, crunchy dried fish and sambal, cucumbers and a half boiled egg on the side. I have to say, as simple as it looks, it definitely tastes even better than it looks! The curry sauce of the chicken together with the coconut rice and fried fish and peanuts, makes it a perfect for simple but satisfying meal!
We also ordered Beef Satay (NT$ 260). The satay comes with a bowl of satay sauce (peanut sauce), some pieces of cucumber, raw onion and bread. The satay are not too big or small, so they are perfect to order as a side dish.
Due to it's extensive menu and long business hours, PappaRich is a place where you can grab something to eat anytime of the day, from breakfast to supper!
