Fruit cake at Ningxia nightmarket

Banana bread (home made)

I have tried different recipes for making banana bread and this was the third time that I made banana bread and it was the most successful one so far! So delicious and it looked and tasted almost like as if you would buy it in the bakery! :D

I used the recipe below and tweaked it a bit. I used 5 very ripe bananas and used less sugar and replaced some of the whole wheat flour with (1/4 cup) cake flour (低麵粉). Besides the walnuts on top of the bread, I also incorporated chopped walnuts into the mixture. After baking it for 30 min. I covered the bread with aluminum foil, so the walnuts wouldn't get roasted too much. I was very happy and satisfied with the outcome and will use this recipe from now on!

We had dinner at the Neihu branche of Howfun, which is located near MRT Xihu. It is a small restaurant which has an open kitchen and a good ambiance. The interior design makes you want to look around the restaurant. The restaurant is very colorful and they have different sizes of paella pans  and cooking utensils hanging around. The place seems to transform into a semi-lounge bar at night, since they provide all sorts of alcoholic cocktails as well.
We started with a (home made) pumpkin soup, which tasted great and came with a slice of bread that was served in the soup. The sweet aroma of the pumpkin makes you long for more!
You could tell that the rice of the Seafood Paella with Saffron (NT$ 330) was made in shrimp broth, because it had a very strong shrimpy flavor to it. If you like shrimp or seafood in general, you will love this dish! The lemon that was provided gave a fresh kick to the dish.
The HowFun Selected Sausage Paella with Southeast Asia Flavor Sauce (NT$ 270) is THE choice for sausage and meat lovers! The paella was generously topped with all kinds of different sausages. The rice was cooked perfectly and the sauce added an Asian feel to the dish.
We will definitely go back and try out some of the other dishes and tapas!

I thought the Chicken Burrito Cali style (NT$ 145) was kinda small. The burrito had some fries in it and tasted not bad overall. We also ordered 3 Crispy tacos (NT$ 175). We chose 3 different flavors: taco meat, pork and tofu. The both of us liked the burrito more. The crispy tacos themselves were OK, but the fillings weren't that good. They just tasted weird. I have been to Macho Tacos a few times before already and I remember the food wasn't that bad before. The service wasn't as good either and they removed the small side dishes that were free to take in the past. Too bad they closed down Dos Chinos near Tonghua Street. IMHO the food there was way better.

We came across this store by coincidence. The temptation was too big not to get any, so we got 3 different kinds of buns to go: the chashao bun (叉燒包), the meat bun (鮮肉包) and the taro-red bean paste bun (芋頭豆沙包).
I was pleasantly surprised to see that this shop sells chashao buns! I think this is one of the few places other than dimsum restaurants that sells them. Although the chashao buns were good, I find it didn't have enough chashao meat. The meat buns on the other hand were huge and generously filled with delicious flavored pork mixed with spring onions. The taro-red bean paste bun is a bun made of taro dough and abundantly filled with red bean paste. Out of these 3 flavors, I liked the savory meat bun the most. Will definitely go back again to try the other flavors!
